When the world ended, Sam had nothing to do with it.

He knew this, because he had only set foot outside the Tower doors after all this began. He hadn't said or done anything that could be remotely considered tempting fate. He hadn't angered any supernatural powers, inspired assassination attempts or so much as sneezed wrong in what had to be months.

For some reason, absolutely no one else seemed to take that into consideration as a massive form that looked remarkably like Godzilla rose out of Lake Michigan, and, slowly, everyone turned to look accusingly at Sam.
