Maureen
She's barely contained fire. She's a human tornado. She's only under control as long as she wants to be, and when she decides she doesn't, there's nothing in the world that can stop her. She won't let anyone see she can't even control herself, sometimes; he knows anyway. She tastes like vanilla, sweeter than anyone would expect. She's sexy as all hell, and knows it. She reminds him of a prowling cat sometimes, the way she moves, the way she'll look at him like she's hunting. She's a fucking goddess, so there's no question why he loves her.
Mark
He's as baffling sometimes as the world he tries so hard to understand. One minute he's a quiet observer, the next in the middle of everything; asking questions, engaging people. He's reliable, constant — he's never broken in the open, never let anyone see if he's ever broken. He's warm, more than ever shows on the outside, and there's precious few he shows that to. He smells like apples, especially when he's just gotten out of the shower, because of his shampoo. He cares, so deeply it hurts, so there's no question either, why he loves him.
Alison
She's ice, burning cold and always under control, whatever the circumstances-- and only ever controlled by herself. She's not just baffling, she's impenetrable, mirror-bright facade that reflects rather than reveals. She's beautiful and knows it, but it's a beauty he's afraid to touch. She's frozen over, except he's sure there's warmth in her, remembers it and doesn't know what happened to it. She's a goddess too, but a different kind, and she hardly seems to care about anything anymore, so he can't remember the answer to the question of why he loves her.
